IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY; it's how you say it. The state of Texas figures into both Ray's & Jill's past. So when Ben, one of Ray's former students, was moving to Austin, Texas from NYC and wanted to visit Lead Graffiti, we invited him down try his hand at printing via letterpress. Ideas start at the feet of ZZ Top.

Riffing on the opening vocals of ZZ Top's La Grange, we tried to mimic the growl of Billy Gibbons' voice with some beefy, overlapping type. We added a southern drawl in Texas flag colors and set it off with a blind debossed (printed without ink) lone star in the center, about two-thirds of the way down.

All that's left to do is grab your air guitar and make some music. You can almost smell the BBQ!

PRINTING : via letterpress in 4 press runs (3 on large, hand rolled wood type, 1 on smaller type) on acid-free, Somerset Textured White 300 gsm, with deckled edges at top & bottom. Printed on a Vandercook Universal III.
